Cerecal™ is a wheat-derived starch blocker.  Preliminary Japanese studies have indicated that Cerecal™ ties up alpha-amylase, the enzyme that is responsible for converting dietary starch into simple sugars that are normally absorbed into the bloodstream.  Therefore, carbohydrate foods are not converted and stored as fat.  They safely pass through the body, the same way fiber does. These studies reveal that Cerecal™ has the capacity to block 27 grams or 108 calories of carbohydrates per milligram!  Other scientific studies indicate that wheat derived alpha-amylase inhibitors, such as Cerecal™, have a significantly higher activity against pancreatic and salivary amylase than bean derived inhibitors such as Phase 2T.  This study concluded that the wheat amylase inhibitor reduced food intake and weight gain along with sustaining blood glucose delivery. This study also indicated that Cerecal™ does not inhibit trypsin, which is frequently present in bean derived alpha amylase inhibiting products.  This is very good as trypsin inhibition is undesirable because it may cause gas and bloating.

Synephrine
Synephrine is the main "active" compound found in the fruit of a plant called Citrus Aurantium.  The fruit is also known as zhi shi (in traditional Chinese medicine), and bitter orange in other parts of the world. Synephrine is chemically similar to ephedrine; however, Synephrine is considered a semi-selective sympathomimetic (because it targets some tissues such as fat, more than it targets others such as the heart) versus a non-selective sympathomimetic (like ephedrine which targets many tissues equally and thus often causes side effects).  Because synephrine is a mild stimulant similar in some ways to ephedrine, it has been known to have similar effects in terms of providing an energy boost, suppressing appetite, and increasing metabolic rate and caloric expenditure.  Although synephrine and several other compounds found in the zhi shi are structurally similar to ephedrine and are known to act as stimulants, they do not have the same negative central nervous effects as ephedrine.

Garcinia Cambogia
Hydroxycitric acid (HCA), is the active ingredient extracted from the rind of a little pumpkin-like fruit, Garcinia Cambogia, from India and Southeast Asia.  Mega Diet™ contains Garcinia Cambogia (50% hydroxycitric acid) to help inhibit fat production, suppress appetite, increase energy levels, and increase fat oxidation.  HCA can also inhibit an enzyme in cells, citrate lyase, which is needed for the conversion of carbohydrates into fat.

1. Set Goals    Goal setting is very important when you are involved in a weight loss program.  Without proper short-term and long-term goals you can easily lose focus.  Goals should have a timeline.  Without a timeline, it's difficult to know if you are on track.  For example, if your long-term goal is to lose 30 pounds in 6 months you need to lose approximately 5 pounds per month.  Your goal will then read "I will lose 5 pounds per month for 6 consecutive months."  It is very important to write down your goals.  This way you can look at them periodically to see if you are on track

Do not weigh yourself every day     Write down your starting measurements and weight.  It is recommended that you weigh yourself every Friday morning and always use the same scale.  Also, take your measurements every two weeks.
